Independent charity REACH offers debt advice, benefit help, housing, emergency food and utility assistance to individuals and families who are suffering from or struggling with the effects of financial crisis or hardship.

Centred around Haverhill, the charity was often approached for support in other areas. REACH set up a pilot project with Newmarket’s Open Door foodbank and The Voluntary Network to offer debt and welfare advice to their clients. The demand was so great that, with a generous grant from the Denbury Charitable Fund and support from Suffolk Community Foundation, they now have a permanent Community Outreach Advisor in the town centre.

Henry Wilson MBE, Chief Executive REACH: “Thanks to the amazing support of the Denbury Charitable Fund, we launched a centre in Newmarket in November 2021. This has been a fantastic catalyst to enable us to bring our life transforming REACH support into the homes of Newmarket people struggling with financial hardship. Sadly, our service continues to be very much needed and we could never have begun this project without the initial investment from Denbury Charitable Fund.”

Women Like ME

Women Like Me, a charity which uses gardening to support women’s mental health and wellbeing was given a major donation by Denbury Homes.

SouthGen Hospital

The hospital was central to the life of the community and a source of great pride. It was built entirely through community subscriptions and even after its nationalisation by the NHS in 1948, the community continued to raise money to pay for new facilities and equipment.
