For Baz and Bridget Goldstone, and Cockapoo Moët, moving to Denbury Homes’ St Edmunds Gate development was about finding somewhere they could truly settle and enjoy life. Having previously lived in the nearby village of Elmswell, they were keen to move closer to the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds.
Bridget said, “We have always loved Bury. We enjoy walking around the historic town, visiting the theatres and eating out, so being able to walk into the town centre in around 20 minutes from our new home is perfect.
“We knew Denbury Homes was building here, so we visited the show home before Christmas. The sales team were so welcoming and knowledgeable, and as soon as I walked into the house, I fell in love with it. The quality was immediately obvious.”
The couple chose The Swan house type after being impressed by its spacious layout and sociable design. “We loved the flow of the house straight away,” Bridget explained. “The kitchen is perfect for entertaining and opens beautifully onto the garden. The whole house feels light, spacious and comfortable, and I have really enjoyed making it our own.”
Part exchange keeps the dream on track
After seeing their property chain collapse twice, Baz and Bridget were concerned they had missed their opportunity to move. However, Denbury Homes introduced them to its Part Exchange scheme. “The sales team talked us through everything, and within 24 hours we had a decision,” said Baz. “The relief was incredible. We no longer had to worry about selling our house or paying estate agent fees, and we completed in around six weeks.
The part exchange scheme is designed to take away the stress of selling an existing property. The Denbury Homes team will assess if your current home is eligible in line with criteria around property age, value and construction. If approved, Denbury Homes invites three independent estate agents to value the property and will make an offer to purchase subject to survey. If you accept, the sales can progress side-by-side. You can live in your current house until your new home is ready and the two sales are complete.
“It was wonderful moving into a brand-new home that was a blank canvas. We could start planning colours and furniture before we had even moved in. I would recommend Part Exchange to anybody.”
Peace of mind from a new build
Choosing a new build was equally important. “As we get older, we wanted a home where there was nothing to renovate or repair. The NHBC warranty gave us real peace of mind, and the house is incredibly economical to run. It is warm, well insulated and very comfortable.”
Since moving in four months ago, the couple have been equally impressed by the support they have received. “The aftersales care has been brilliant. We were introduced to the Site Manager straight away, and any small finishing items have been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Everyone has treated us as individuals rather than just house buyers.”
Settling into the new community
The community at St Edmunds Gate has also made a lasting impression. “The community is really starting to take shape. We have met so many neighbours already, and everyone is so friendly. Denbury Homes recently opened the new play area and invited residents along, which was a lovely opportunity to meet people.
“There are beautiful walks around the development and our Cockerpoo, Moët, absolutely loves them. We regularly see deer, pheasants and partridge, and the new footpaths make it easy to walk into Bury.”
Although construction continues across parts of the development, the couple say it has had very little impact. “The site is always clean and tidy, everyone is friendly, and if there is ever any disruption, we are told well in advance. We really cannot praise the team enough.”
Reflecting on their move, Bridget believes they have finally found somewhere they can call home.
“Home is where I feel happiest. It is somewhere Baz, Moët, and I can relax together, and I love making the house our own.
“We have moved several times over the years, but this is the first house where we truly feel we have put down roots. Without a doubt, moving to St Edmunds Gate by Denbury Homes was the best decision we have made.”
Monty Beaton, Head of Sales and Marketing at Denbury Homes, said: “It has been a pleasure helping Baz and Bridget settle into their new home at St Edmunds Gate. It is wonderful to hear how quickly they have become part of the growing community and how much they are enjoying both their new home and everything Bury St Edmunds has to offer.”
Interested in part exchange?
Through its part exchange scheme, Denbury Homes agrees to purchase an existing property, with the proceeds being put towards the purchase of a new Denbury Homes home. This helps make moving into a new home quicker, less stressful, saves on estate agent fees, and buyers can remain in their home until their new one is finished.
Buyers are invited to an Open House Event on Saturday 5 September, 11am – 3pm at Denbury Homes’ development Trinity Rise in Ormesby St Margaret, Norfolk (NR29 3PP). Representatives from the Denbury Homes sales team and Bycroft Estate Agents will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions, discuss the available homes and incentives, and guide visitors around the development. Those with a home to sell can also find out more about the part exchange scheme.
