Denbury Homes Expands with new appointments

Anthony Arnold appointed Head of Design by East Anglian homebuilder Denbury Homes, he joins Head of Land Sam Courtley as the company targets growth while maintaining design-led ethos.

Anthony joins Denbury Homes having worked for former sister company Hopkins Homes for 20 years. As Head of Design Anthony oversees house design as well as overall development design and layout.

“Denbury Homes is growing and has some bold ambitions for the coming years but it remains a family-run business. That means that designing and building homes that make beautiful and lasting contributions to the towns and villages of the region remains our central principle. As a designer this commitment is so important to me.

“Our developments aren’t governed by a rigid structure or predefined set of plot parameters. We design by looking at the space available and understanding how a certain combination of homes will look to both residents and passers by. Our homes and developments sit naturally within their enviromant and offer homebuyers the opportunity to find a home that suits them, whatever stage they are at.”

Anthony works closely with Head of Land Sam Courtley who joined Denbury Homes almost a year ago.

Since joining the company, Sam has overseen land purchases in Denbury Homes’ home counties of Suffolk and Norfolk but also stretching beyond the company’s traditional heartland into Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

“The quality of the homes we build appeals not only to our buyers but to agents and landowners too. Our deep roots in Suffolk and across East Anglia means we have strong personal relationships with owners and understand how passionate local communities are about their towns and villages.

“Having worked at a number of PLCs, the difference in agility and speed of decision making at Denbury gives the company a huge advantage. As a land team we are a small but well-oiled machine with a direct line to the board which means the company can respond to landowners quickly and with a flexibility that just isn’t possible for larger more bureaucratic organisations.”

Lee Barnard, CEO of Denbury Homes said: “Anthony and Sam are very welcome additions to our team. Their leadership of the design and land departments is playing a key role in ensuring we can pursue our growth targets without sacrificing the quality and individuality of the homes and developments. As the government works to remove some of the barriers that slow down planning decision making we are well placed to move quickly to keep applications on track.”

Denbury Homes is currently selling homes at Clare, Eyke and Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk with the final plot available in Debenham. Homes in Little Easton and Layer de la Haye in Essex and Cheveley in Cambridgeshire are also available with the marketing suite in Ormesby St Margaret in Norfolk due to open in early 2026. The company has also recently announced land purchases in Clare, Suffolk and in Halstead, Essex.
